The study of history involves an understanding and appreciation of our cultural heritage, whether ancient or modern, eastern or western, humanistic or technological. It seeks to appreciate the values of our global civilization in its many parts. The study of history also stresses the importance of the historical perspective for understanding contemporary social, political, technological, and economic problems. Finally, it encourages critical thinking and requires both effective written and verbal communication skills. Explore the Department of History webpage for additional information. Career Planning Engaging in career planning activities is significant to student success. UNF offers customized career centers to deliver targeted programs, events, services and resources.
