The Mathematics major provides students with the background necessary to pursue quantitative careers in mathematics as well as the background to pursue more advanced degrees. The concentration in Applied Mathematics deals with the use of mathematical concepts and techniques in various fields of science and engineering. Courses are designed to educate in an appealing and thought-provoking manner. Faculty strive to instill students with an appreciation for the power of mathematics as well as a desire to be lifelong learners. Students following this concentration have ample opportunity to assemble a portfolio of courses and research experiences that will satisfy both intellectual needs and career preparation. They will be prepared for careers in government labs and agencies, banks, consulting firms, electronics and computer manufacturers, logistics companies, transportation service providers, and more.
