The major in financial planning is designed for the student who is interested in a career in the dynamic financial services sector which includes personal financial planning, banking, insurance, and related areas. This major integrates finance, accounting, employee benefits, and insurance. The objective is to prepare the student for careers in the growing fields of financial planning. This major also emphasizes communication skills. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for the examinations leading to professional designation such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP) ® and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). Certified Financial Planner (CFP) ® are certification marks owned by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. These marks are awarded to individuals who successfully complete the CFP ® Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements. Career Planning Engaging in career planning activities is significant to student success. UNF offers customized career centers to deliver targeted programs, events, services and resources. First-Year and Exploratory students should visit the Career Services webpage and Sophomore or higher level students with a declared major in the Coggin College of Business should visit the Coggin Career Management Center.
