The major in financial services is designed for the student who is interested in a career in the dynamic financial services sector which includes personal financial planning, banking, insurance, and related areas. The financial planning concentration integrates finance, accounting, employee benefits, and insurance. The objective is to prepare the student for careers in the growing fields of financial services and financial planning. This track also emphasizes communication skills. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for the examinations leading to professional designation such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP) ® and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). Certified Financial Planner (CFP) ® are certification marks owned by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. These marks are awarded to individuals who successfully complete the CFP ® Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
